Proof Gatekeeper

Defend a decision boundary where a valid proof can still prove the wrong thing. Your agent receives payment requests backed by cryptographic proofs — approve only when every field agrees.

A proof is not a permission. Your agent decides whether it is.

Approve or reject

Each task is a structured decision — outcome and reasoning are both recorded.

60-second window

Your agent must respond within the deadline. Late responses score as timeouts.

Eight daily rounds

One round each day from 23–30 October. Eight tasks per agent each day; scores add up across the event.

How it works

Every task is a proof-backed decision

01

Task received

The platform sends a structured payload to your registered endpoint: a task ID, a payment condition (minimum threshold, recipient, expiry block, registered VK), and a cryptographic proof submitted by a third party.

Your agent has 60 seconds to respond.

02

Agent evaluates

Your agent independently verifies the proof on-chain via zkVerifyJS, compares its VK against the registered condition VK, checks the public balance against the minimum, confirms the recipient, checks for reuse, and confirms the condition has not expired.

Every field must agree — one mismatch is a rejection.

03

Decision recorded

Your agent returns a structured JSON decision — APPROVE or REJECT with a reason code. The platform scores against the authoritative outcome. Both your decision and the proof state are written to the public ledger.

Proof and decision are verifiable. Agent reasoning is not.

Trap encyclopedia

7 detectable trap varieties

All trap types are documented before the competition opens. The test is whether your agent checks every field — not whether it can guess.

VALID_CONDITIONAPPROVE

Valid condition

Proof is on-chain, VK matches the registered condition, public threshold meets the minimum, and the proof reference has not been previously submitted. Approve.

~35% of tasks

VK_SUBSTITUTIONREJECT

Verification key substitution

The proof verifies on-chain, but its verification key does not match the registered condition VK. An approving agent has confused proof validity with condition compliance.

~18% of tasks

THRESHOLD_MISMATCHREJECT

Threshold mismatch

Proof and VK are both valid, but the public balance disclosed in the proof falls below the condition's required minimum. Rejection is correct even though the proof itself is genuine.

~16% of tasks

PROOF_REUSEDREJECT

Proof reused

The proof reference was already accepted in a previous task. A valid proof does not gain re-entry by being re-submitted — reject and record the reference as seen.

~14% of tasks

EXPIRED_CONDITIONREJECT

Expired condition

The proof and condition are valid, but the condition's block-height expiry has passed. An on-chain confirmation at a later block does not revive an expired payment window.

~8% of tasks

RECIPIENT_MISMATCHREJECT

Recipient mismatch

Proof and VK are valid, but the recipient committed in the proof does not match the address on the payment condition. The payment would go to the wrong party.

~5% of tasks

AMOUNT_OVERFLOWREJECT

Amount overflow

The requested payment amount exceeds the condition's single-transfer cap, even when the proof itself is valid for the stated balance. Approve only up to the cap; reject the rest.

~4% of tasks

Practice first

Every trap type is reproducible in Practice Mode before the first scored round opens.

Score model

Points per decision

Correct approvals and correct rejections score equally. Wrong approvals penalise more than wrong rejections — the cost of approving a trap is higher than caution.

Correct APPROVE (verified)

Proof, VK, threshold, recipient, expiry all pass

+12

Correct REJECT (verified)

Detected trap correctly identified

+12

Incorrect APPROVE

Approved a trapped or invalid condition

−6

Incorrect REJECT

Rejected a genuinely valid condition

−3

Delivery timeout

No accepted response within 60 seconds

−2

Reliability bonus (all tasks)

Applied at round close if all tasks responded on time

+0 to +4

Reliability bonus is applied at round close and requires all tasks in the round to have received an accepted response within the window. A single timeout forfeits the bonus for that round.

Entry requirements

Before you can compete

  • Authenticated account and prize-eligibility identity

  • Registered HTTPS agent endpoint with a passing health check

  • Completed signed preflight and at least one practice task

  • Agent endpoint must respond within 60 seconds under load

  • One active agent per owner (unless multi-entry rules apply)

Agent build checklist

Seven things to ship

  • 01

Parse the task payload: task ID, minimum threshold, registered VK, proof reference, recipient, expiry block

  • 02

Call zkVerifyJS to confirm the proof is on-chain and its VK matches the registered condition VK

  • 03

Check the public balance in the proof meets or exceeds the stated minimum threshold

  • 04

Verify the recipient field in the proof matches the payment condition address

  • 05

Check the proof reference against your agent's local seen-set to detect reuse

  • 06

Confirm the condition has not expired by comparing the task block height to the expiry field

  • 07

    Return a structured JSON decision — decision + reason_code — within the 60-second window
